R&D Scientist

R&D Scientist

We are looking for an experienced R&D Scientist to strengthen our research and development team. As R&D Scientist you are developing our future polymers, their synthetic routes (often including those of the monomers) and the required work-up processes. When applicable you walk the entire road, from innovative idea until transfer to manufacturing. You will have a substantive intellectual role by, but not limited to, exploring different chemistries, evaluating experiments and upscaling of lab syntheses to manufacturing processes. You will also perform syntheses and polymerizations of important supplies for critical (clinical) studies in a development phase. You are able to manage your own work and that of co-workers teaming with you in projects. You may become responsible for important parts of projects with opportunities for growth into project management. You will report to a Project Manager and/or the Manager R&D.

Environment

PolyVation is a highly innovative company that develops and manufactures polymers customized for the innovators in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. Medical device, biotech and pharmaceutical start-ups and leading companies around the world are our customers to make new world-class products.

We work in a modern and quality driven environment, laid out according to ISO 13485 and GMP (ICH Q7). Our R&D facilities and clean rooms are well equipped for all kinds of chemistries up to about 100L and soon 300L scale.

You will work in a team of professionals and in close collaboration with colleagues from the manufacturing, analytical and quality assurance department. We report in English and communicate in both Dutch and English.

Your background

You are curious and critical to each and every result and possess an excellent analytical thinking ability. You are always driven in quickly finding the best fitting solutions and you are self-critical. You love to work in the lab, experimenting with all kinds of processes and at the same time being equipped with good documentation skills to report the results of your work. You have strong communication skills (verbally and in writing) and are proficient in English.

You should have a PhD degree in (polymer) chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalents. Being skilled in polymer and/or organic synthesis is a necessity. Experience with polymers and familiarity with GxP quality systems will largely strengthen your application.
